Gouves beach

Gouves beach village has many tourist facilities and a calm environment, away from the noisy world in Heraklion, Hersonissos and Malia. Gouves beach coastline extends to over four kilometres offering a tremendous selection of beaches and some spots with spectacular sea views. Starting from the west side the big beach close to Creta Aquarium is a large and sandy beach with soft sand and crystal waters, making it ideal for families with kids and people looking for some calm moments it usually gets very crowded during the weekends when the locals come from Heraklio to enjoy the sea and sun. Walking to the east we meet the very popular beach in front of the Astir hotel and Marina hotel, a flat sandy clear beach with crystal shallow waters offering all the comforts, with sunbeds and umbrellas, lifeguards, taverns restaurants and beach bars that serve delicious food and Cretan cuisine. The beach also offers a variety of water sports activities like paragliding, waterskiing, canoeing, pedal boat and other water sports. As we are on Crete’s north coast, there are sometimes high winds even during the summertime. On a windy day, you can choose the little beach at the small port in front of Afroditi hotel where the wind cannot hit the beach so you can enjoy a calm sea. Here you will find mostly families that enjoy the beautiful small beach. The main street of Kato Gouves, is within walking distance and you can find several supermarkets, shops, ATMs, doctors, restaurants and a pharmacy.
